Criteria C
Online shopping allows anyone to buy things easy, less time consuming and more convenient way than getting up and going to a shopping mall. when a person is shopping online they can see exactly what they are buying and also offers additional assistance information about the product, which makes online shopping so trendy. Although all of these reasons are positive online shopping can also have negative consequences on people and society as a whole.
One the many troubles people face while shopping online is security. The information of the user and the expense data is encrypted by SSL when it is transferred on the Internet. Another key security issue is how the online business can find out the identity of the consumer. “Privacy of personal information is a big issue. In spite of Privacy Guidelines of the OECD, for example, privacy violations still occur and hamper eCommerce from developing to its full potential.” (Answers.com). one of this problems that this can have on companies is that people work less because they are focusing more on personal tasks and also exposing office computer systems to fraud. An issue that involves e-commerce is online shopping in workforces with the use of office computers. If an e-commerce site is not secured an individual may be giving company information away without even knowing. For example if a site has spy ware then it will just cause a lot of problem so the company and the individual. E-commerce can also lead a person to check their bank accounts and can eventually lead them to downloading software and hence putting these computers at dangerous financial and other confidential dangers.
